Do you feel the shift in the air lately? If you are connected to your company’s Human Resources department, you realize I’m not just talking about the seasons. With a rapidly developing push towards digital transformation, there comes a growing pressure from both an employee and an organization’s overall expectations of the hiring and retention process. The aptitudes and efforts of the people in your organization are among the most valuable assets. The first day of Microsoft’s annual technology summit Ignite has concluded and the sun has set on Orlando, but the buzz surrounding the technologies showcased today still continues. Ignite kicked off with a keynote speech by Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella which outlined Microsoft’s vision moving forward and reiterated its dedication and focus on cloud based offerings (Office 365, Dynamics 365, Azure, Microsoft Teams, etc.). Nadella focused on the “Modern Workplace”, which puts more emphasis on collaboration and “going beyond individual productivity and routine tasks” and focuses more on utilizing the skills and creativity that exists in your organization. The site would appear to freeze at a gray screen and would never load the report. We would not see this issue if logged in as a local admin or from a physical desktop. Since AppSense Personlization was not applied to the physical desktop nor the local admin we focused on AppSense. We started by running process monitor to compare a working Cognos Report to a non-working Citrix XD Cognos Report.

As an IT guy you may have found yourself getting calls from everyone in the organization complaining they cannot open files or finding when they open a file in office it appears corrupt. You quickly find out that you’re seeing “DECRYPT_INSTRUCTION.TXT” files everywhere in all of the company shared drives and sub folders. If your familiar with the Cryptowall, CryptoLocker and any other ransomware. You’ll know that if you don’t act quickly ransomware will encrypt your entire file servers offered shares or the shares the user that opened the infected file had access too.

The ‘out of the box’ Sharepoint permission level of Contribute, typically assigned to basic users, allows for the ability to delete any items within document libraries, however, due to security requirements of many organizations, basic users should not be able to delete another user’s documents and/or folders.
